Dive Australia is a scuba diving information and booking service run by divers for divers. The site is managed by Rick and Bernie (G'day...G'day), who together have over 50 years scuba diving experience. We are both NAUI Instructors and Course Directors, and Rick is also a PADI Dive Instructor. We've lived and taught diving in Cairns, and are familiar with Great Barrier Reef dive sites from Lizard Island down to Lady Elliot.
Cairns which is recognised as the "jump off point" to the reef has an International Airport and you can fly into it from almost anywhere in the world as well as depart to anywhere. If you intend diving out from Cairns where there are the most options for your trip to the reef, then flying directly to and out of Cairns makes good sense as you will save time by doing so. All airports in Australia have links to Cairns as well so if you have already booked your flights, don't panic, you will still get there.
